Interview With Chloe Lee
Serve It Green
Ace our way to the future of eco-friendly tennis.
Our Misson
Since the 13th century, tennis has been a prominent sport that unfortunately creates a large amount of waste. Over 125 million tennis balls end up in landfills each year in the U.S. alone, and for the next 400 years, they sit there, unable to be decomposed. The solution to this problem is recycling and reusing. I love tennis, and I want to do my part to spread awareness to the general public about the environmental disaster of tennis ball waste, and how we can help to minimize it.

What We Do
Research and Awareness
We plan to educate others about the environmental problems surrounding tennis balls through our website, as well as look forwards to the future to make recycling tennis balls more efficient with fully recyclable or even biodegradable tennis balls that are more eco-friendly. We want people to understand the issue driving our organization before diving into action.
Interviews
Through this research, we will also interview experts and companies within this field of expertise to help give credible, first-hand sources that fully encapsulate this topic and what the optimal solution to this problem might be.
Physical Recycling
When it comes to hands-on action, the goals of the organization are to bring awareness to tennis ball waste, set up recycling bins in private tennis clubs and public facilities, and partner up with recycling companies to repurpose and recycle the balls. The goal of the organization is to support a cleaner environment within the tennis world and combat climate change in one of the most popular sports in the world.
Approximately 125 million tennis balls are dumped in landfills yearly.
It takes 400 years for a tennis ball to decompose, while the average player only uses a tennis ball for 3-4 hours.
Less than 1/2% of tennis balls are actually recycled.
A Bit About Me (Christian Stubbeman)
I am a competitive junior tennis player in the Los Angeles region and have been playing tennis for over 5 years. I found interest in science since my 5th-grade science field trip, and as a member of Gen Z, I care about the climate. Climate change is a global crisis, and I hope to combat it, one ball at a time.
